Counter Sales Assistant
Location: Huddersfield
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm, plus alternate Saturdays (1 on, 1 off)
Salary: £30K DOE
About the Role
A well-established timber and building materials supplier is looking to recruit a motivated Counter Sales Assistant to join their team.
This customer-facing role involves supporting both trade and retail customers with product advice, order processing and top-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the trade counter, ensuring excellent service at all times
- Processing sales orders, quotations, and handling payments accurately
- Providing product knowledge, stock information and recommending alternatives where needed
- Keeping the trade counter area clean, organised and inviting for customers
- Coordinating with the warehouse team to ensure efficient order fulfilment
- Assisting with general branch duties when required
About You
- Experience in customer service, sales, or a trade counter role (ideally within timber, builders merchants, or construction supply)
- Confident communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Strong organisational skills and accuracy
- Ability to work well within a team in a busy environment
- Proactive and customer-focused attitude
- Basic IT competency for processing orders and checking stock
